Taylor Farm & Ranch Postcards

Our farm was hit pretty hard by a tornado in the spring. We lost roofs off of the machine shed, the tool shed, the house, two hay barns, and our beautiful stone barn. The windmill ended up wrapped around our brand new truck. Two loafing sheds disappeared all together. One entire barn was lifted up and taken over a row of trees and dropped neatly upside down in the creek. Hundreds of trees were toppled and fences destroyed. Windows in the big house were shattered and water ran in through the roof in ten places.

Clean up took most of the summer and some things are still going. There is a new roof on the house and on the stone barn thanks to Messler Roofing.

The stone barn sustained some stone and structural damage that was repaired by Kenton Knowles.

Needless to say the insurance $$ didn't cover the repair expenses. Unfortunately we had just started filling out the paper work to get some of the buildings on the historic register. If they had been registered we could have gotten some tax credits for the repairs.

Long story short-$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

All proceeds from the sale of our postcards will go directly into the maintenance, repair, and restoration of our historic stone barn, which was built in 1879.
